Unlike AFD where it just sort of comes out of nowhere. Slaughter High has a lot of clues of things that *don’t* add up to the point you think it’s plot holes. But it ends up being a “dream” and therefore an April fools day prank in its own way to the audience. Are they subtle? Some are, some aren’t (the fucking bathtub in the school omg). But I think that puts it higher for me. Though both are flawed movies. I can get behind Slaughter High’s approach wayyyyy more.
Therefore while AFD may have the better acting - this one just handles the holiday themes the best imho.
I can def get down with some stuff about this movie, but overall it's pretty hideous. Entertainingly hideous, but hideous nonetheless. I do like the basic plot, the killer's costume, & some of the kills. On the other hand, the execution of said plot, the flop characters, the generally hit-or-miss kills, the questionable ages of the main cast who all look 40 in both the high school & reunion portions of the movie... all of it's roof stoof. Far from the worst 80s slasher, but also far from the best.
Since it was brought up, my feelings on the ending are just as mixed as the rest of the movie. "It's all a dream," or in this case "it's all Marty's revenge fantasy" always feels cheap to me. I like some of the visuals & the general eerie vibe created there. But especially in this particular case it feels like a cheap way of explaining why the movie stretched believability so often without actually having to do any of the work that fixing the plot's issues would've required. So it works because it's creepy but fails because it's lazy, for me.
I liked it...: I like contrasting opinions, they're fun. It's not just a "i think this way" or a "i think that way", there's something real about expressing thoughts in such a healthy way!

I liked it...: I like that question, it's welcoming. It's not just a "how is your day" or a "what are you up to?", there's something real about a question that says just that!

I liked it...: I like the tongue out smiley, it's inventive. It's not just large emotes that take up the page or imagur gifs with obscure links, there's something inventive about a smiley where the tongue is just out
